The material standard
Zirconia (zirconium dioxide) is one of the strongest dental ceramics available, with a flexural strength far exceeding conventional porcelain. It withstands the significant forces of biting and chewing without chipping or fracturing — making it uniquely suited to full-arch implant restorations that bear the full load of your bite.
Modern high-translucency zirconia refracts light in a way that closely mimics natural tooth enamel. The result is a restoration that catches light and shifts in appearance the way real teeth do — not flat or opaque like earlier generations of dental ceramics.
Zirconia contains no metal. There is no risk of metal corrosion over time, no dark line at the gumline that can appear with older metal-based bridges, and no concern about metal sensitivity or allergy. Patients who have reacted to metal restorations in the past consistently report excellent tolerance of zirconia.
Zirconia has been used in both dental and medical applications — including orthopedic implants — for decades. It is highly biocompatible, meaning gum tissue integrates well around it and the body does not treat it as a foreign material. Long-term gum health around zirconia restorations is excellent.
The dense, non-porous surface of zirconia resists the absorption of food pigments, coffee, and other staining agents that affect other materials over time. Unlike acrylic provisionals, a final zirconia bridge maintains its color and polished surface for the long term.

The facility uses precision industrial CAD/CAM milling machines that operate to tolerances measured in microns — producing a restoration geometry that matches your digital design with extraordinary accuracy. After milling, the zirconia is sintered at high temperatures, transforming it to its final hardness and dimensional stability before a thorough quality inspection.

Many full-arch implant patients at Aria receive a PMMA (acrylic) provisional bridge immediately after implant surgery — this is the fixed temporary smile worn while implants heal and integrate with the bone. Once your implants have fully integrated, the final NobelProcera® Zirconia Bridge replaces it. Zirconia is significantly stronger, more durable, more stain-resistant, and more aesthetically refined than PMMA, and is designed for long-term, permanent use. Think of the PMMA as the fixed temporary that lets you function beautifully while your permanent smile is being engineered.
Yes. Zirconia is highly biocompatible and has been used in both dental and medical applications — including orthopedic implants — for decades. It contains no metal, does not corrode, and is exceptionally well-tolerated by gum tissue. For patients with metal sensitivities or concerns about metal in their body, zirconia is an excellent and widely recommended alternative.
In many cases, yes. If implants placed at another practice are of a compatible system and are well-integrated, Aria may be able to design and fabricate a NobelProcera® Zirconia Bridge for your existing implants. A consultation and 3D CT scan is the best way to evaluate your specific implant system and determine compatibility. There is no charge for the consultation.
